Good Afternoon OPLLF Families

First off we would like to thank all of you that have registered for the upcoming season.  With all of the uncertainty in the world today we are hopeful that we will be able to find some normalcy in a 2020 season.  We are actively engaging in conversations with the Town, County and State in the hopes of determining what it will take to practice and play this year, while keeping our children and families safe and healthy.

At this time Empire West (the league we play in) is planning on starting the 2020 season on time and are seeking guidance from the state, county, USA Football and the National Youth Athletic Association.  Unfortunately there have been no clearly defined requirements set forth by any of the above.

We do anticipate that some form of face covering will be required and in response we have ordered the Schutt Splash Shield for all of our helmets.  This is a two piece face shield that will offer some protection.  We are also looking at neck gators similar to those used when fishing that are light and more breathable.

In addition to some form of PPE we will be required to sanitize pads and equipment more often.  A result of this will be the need for additional volunteers to help sanitize pads after practice and ensure we are protecting our children.  If you are interested in helping please let us know.

As of today we are looking at equipment handout the week of July 27th with practice beginning Monday August 3rd , obviously this may change depending on state and local guidelines.

This is an ever evolving situation and as such things can change quickly.  We will do our best to ensure we communicate information as it becomes available but at this time we have no detailed return to play requirements.  Again, thank you for your support, stay safe, stay healthy and we hope to see you and your children soon.
